I started riding, running, and eating right in the weeks leading up to my departure. I had even started practicing Australian Rules Football, as there was a league in the US that a friend played in and when he invited us to join I didn’t want to embarrass my country at its’ national sport.
In the 10 days before I left for the US – I lost over 7kgs. I know this is probably not very healthy, but it worked. I was exercising 2-3 times a day and all I would eat was veggie soup and yoghurt. All I would drink is water and milk. At my going away party a lot of people expressed shock on their faces when I came running up to them, their jaws were hanging open! I had gone from 98kgs to 90.3kgs in less then 2 weeks.

My weight is a funny little creature with a mind of its’ own. When I was young, I used to swimming and participate in gymnastics competitively. As a result I formed the bad habit of eating when I was bored; I just did it as something to past the time. I feel kind of bad for how much of my parents money would have been wasted on this silly habit. Because I was exercising so often I just never put on weight.
After four years, I stopped swimming and stopped Gymnastics. I would still play basketball, but then it happened. I was getting bigger, my six pack started to disappear my jaw line was less defined, and my chins were multiplying.
To this day I still find the compulsion to eat while I am bored. (more…)
